The funding for the Victoria - Bellingham and Bromley new service that was promised in mitigation was taken by TfL for the East London Line Extension to Clapham Junction. Transport Committee's letter to Managing Director of London Rail RTF - September 2009
This letter from Committee Chair Caroline Pidgeon to TfL raises concerns that current plans to increase capacity at London Bridge station do not include extending all the platforms for twelve carriages. It highlights the Committee’s recent report, The Big Squeeze: Rail overcrowding in London, which urged the Department for Transport to fully extend all platforms at London Bridge as part of the Thameslink project.

TfL have now decided that the new Surrey Canal Road station, on the new East London Line Extension pase 2, is not cost effective and are shelving the plans. They suggest it can be built at a later date. But this would cost much more, and if the station is not built now with the new line it may never materialise. Read more
