Politicians have responded quickly to calls to show continued support for the under threat South London Line (SLL) should they get elected.
Campaigners have fought a long campaign to keep the route, which runs on a loop between Victoria and London Bridge, since they learnt that Transport for London (TfL) and the Department of Transport planned to ditch the line last year.

John Stewart, a spokesman for the campaign, said this week: "After the elections we want to maintain the cross-party support we have in Southwark and Lambeth. Therefore we are writing to all the candidates. We expect that there will be few, if any, candidates who will be in favour of withdrawing the service.
“The more support we can get, the more pressure we can put on the rail authorities."

A decision regarding the route’s future was postponed until after the elections, when TfL is expected to meet with the campaigners to discuss the situation.
