When this work starts - at end 2012/beginning 2013 - we will lose the South London Line (SLL) service between London Bridge and Victoria via Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill. This is because there will not be enough terminating platforms for the SLL to terminate there. Read more - click on heading.
This will sever the direct link from stations between Victoria and Denmark Hill to London Bridge, and the direct link between South Bermondsey and Queens Rd Peckham to Victoria. It will also create a big gap in services to and from Victoria in the evenings and at weekends from Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill, when there will be no trains to Victoria at all.
SRUG continues to lobby for these gaps in services to Victoria to be filled by additional services from Dartford or timetable changes in trains from Kent.
We will also continue to lobby for the direct link between London Bridge and Victoria to be reintroduced when London Bridge station is rebuilt by 2019.
Some good news is that on current plans the services from Nunhead, Peckham Rye & Denmark Hill across the river via Blackfriars to St Pancras and beyond will continue after Blackfriars is fully reopened next year. We will also continue to lobby for improvements to the frequencies and regularity of those trains.
