The new Thameslink franchise will be awarded in mid 2013 to start in October 2013 to run to 2020. Consultation on the franchise ran between May and August 2012. This covers all the years that services will be disrupted by the rebuilding of London Bridge station. The Invitation To Tender will be issued in October 2012. SRUG rail services to St Pancras via Blackfriars will be absorbed in 2014, and all Southern Services to London Bridge via Peckham Rye in 2015. So the specification and terms of this new franchise are very significant for the future of our SRUG rail services.

TfL advice on journeys disrupted by London Bridge station works

Transport for London (TfL) is reminding customers that long term National Rail service changes being undertaken by Network Rail at London Bridge mainline station are likely to result in busier than usual services, on certain parts of the transport network, as some customers who usually travel directly to London Bridge by rail use TfL services instead. From 12 January 2015 until August 2016, major Network Rail modernisation work will take place at London Bridge station and Southeastern rail services to and from Charing Cross will not call at London Bridge. Thameslink franchise consultation more time for comments

The Government has extended its deadline to 14 September for comment on the Thameslink franchise consultation. This gives you a chance to email your comments if you use the services covered by the franchise, especially the service to St Pancras via Blackfriars from Nunhead, Peckham Rye or Denmark Hill.

NEW THAMESLINK FRANCHISE
The Government is consulting about the future Thameslink franchise. This franchise will start in October 2013 and at the start will cover all the services currently run by FCC (First Capital Connect). These do not include services running through our SRUG stations (ie Peckham Rye, unhead, Denmark Hill, North Dulwich, East Dulwich, Queens Rd Peckham, Sth Bermondsey). However many of our services will be transferred to this new franchise after that:

  • in 2014, services to St Pancras and beyond from Sevenoaks via Nunhead, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Elephant & Castle and Blackfriars;
