Thameslink franchise consultation

NEW THAMESLINK FRANCHISE
The Government is consulting about the future Thameslink franchise. This franchise will start in October 2013 and at the start will cover all the services currently run by FCC (First Capital Connect). These do not include services running through our SRUG stations (ie Peckham Rye, unhead, Denmark Hill, North Dulwich, East Dulwich, Queens Rd Peckham, Sth Bermondsey). However many of our services will be transferred to this new franchise after that:

  • in 2014, services to St Pancras and beyond from Sevenoaks via Nunhead, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Elephant & Castle and Blackfriars;

Network Rail & TfL support idea of Bakerloo Line extension into SE London

The London and South East RUS (Rail Utilisation Strategy) published in July 2011  indicates, in section 8.6 on page 159, that both Network Rail and TfL believe that there is a business case for the extension of the Bakerloo Line into SE London through Southwark. They have also indicated that this is not likely before 2020. But it can take many years to plan major new rail projects so planning needs to continue now. The RUS says:

Southern Rail issues Peckham Rye station travel plan

Southern Rail have developed an action plan to improve some aspects of travelling to and from some of their stations. Peckham Rye is one of the stations, and the Travel Plan is attached. If you use Peckham Rye station and have any views on this, email SRUG. If anyone is keen to volunteer to monitor how well Southern keep to this plan, please let SRUG know.
